Song of the Day: Who Are You by GIRLS BE

Today was my best friend K's birthday which was super fun. We went out skating out to our usual spot and it was great. Had a really tasty quesadilla with my boy, and our other friend L came by to hang out and eat. We ended up skating with some more of K's friends, one of which I had never met before (technically I think it was a friend of a friend and he hadn't met her either lol). Anyways, she really liked vocaloids, which you could tell because she was dripped out in a Kagamine Lin and Ren jacket, and a t-shirt with assorted vocaloids. She was very chill, and I struck up a conversation about her because I knew some vocaloids, and it really felt nice to connect with someone new over a shared interest. I do listen to a lot of music, so it's really fun to try and figure out what genres and artists I can talk about with a new friend. Music is such a great way to connect with people, its so wonderful. I put in Who Are You by GIRLS BE today because I listened to the whole album it comes off of, The French Operation, which was pretty good. Can't say I was locked in for the entirety of it, but I definitely enjoyed songs like Tres Gai and La promesse de Cecile. I really like the whole vibe and aesthetic, but the three songs I've mentioned so far stand out to me as the best. Also, my friend R put me on to Erykah Badu, specifically her album Mama's Girl, which has already been so good even though I've listened to like three songs. She also showed me LITANIES by Nicholas Lens and Nick Cave because she picked up for free from the library, and it was so strange. Apparently its contemporary classical, which was not what I was expecting at all. Anyways, lots of music and good times today. I was hitting some good ollies today too, K as well. We're definitely getting better, and its been a lot of fun. I hope we can practice consistenly over the summer and also some during the school year, so we can get a lot better. I'm excited to see how we improve. I think my next goal is to consistently hit ollies, as well as while moving, and then my next trick will be the venerable kickflip.
